Vetra Miller Collins

Vetra Miller Collins, 86, died Monday, Nov. 24, 2008 at Smyth County Community Hospital in Marion. She was a loving wife, mother, grandmother, and friend. She was preceded in death by her husband, Everett Collins, son, Everett Michael Collins, and sister, Ollivean Willie. Survivors include four sons, Pat Collins and wife, Hazel, Jeff Collins and wife, Barbara,Phil Collins and wife, Treva, Justin Collins and wife, Velma, all of Saltville; five daughters,Melanie Perry and husband, Bill, of Bristol, Beverly Renick and husband, John, of Salem, Faye Norman and husband, Jerry, of Galax, Sheila Austin and husband, Leonard, of Independence, Cindy Shortt and husband, Dean, of Chilhowie; daughter-in-law, Donna Collins of Abingdon; brother, Joe Miller and wife, Betty, of Saltville; sister, Ruth Hall and husband, Willard, of Salem; 25 grandchildren; 32 great-grandchildren; two great-great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews. Funeral services were conducted at 8 p.m. Wednesday, Nov. 26, at D.R. Henderson Funeral Home with the Rev. Billy Owens officiating. Graveside services were at 11 a.m. Thursday at Elizabeth Cemetery. The family received friends from 6 until 8 p.m. Wednesday evening at the funeral home prior to the service. D. R. Henderson Funeral Home in Saltville was in charge of arrangements.
