Ian Dye Obituary

Ian Buskill Dye, age 76, of Lebanon, Va., died Wed., Nov. 26th, at Johnston Memorial Hospital after an extended illness. Ian was a loving husband, father, grandfather, great-grandfather, and a friend to all that he met. He was a public servant most of his life, serving with the Virginia State Police and retiring as an investigator with the Virginia State Corporation Commission. Born April 2, 1932, in Richlands, Va., to Rhuie J. and Alice Buskill Dye, he was a graduate of Richlands High School, and attended Emory and Henry College. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a brother Cecil M. "Poker" Dye. Survivors include: his wife of 59 years, Emma Jean Barrett Dye; sons Cecil Duane Dye and wife Debra of Chesterfield, Va.; Ian B. Dye, Jr. and wife Erica of Abingdon, Va.; grandsons Jayfred Dotson, Andrew Dye, Christopher Dye, Ian B. Dye, III, Nolan Dye, and Logan Dye; granddaughter, Stephanie LaRose; and great-grandsons, Jonah and Micah Davis; great-granddaughter, Annika LaRose; special brothers-in-law, Allen, Clyde, and Claude Barrett; sister-in-law, Evelyn Thiel; numerous nieces and nephews; and great aunt, Helen Blankenship; special friends and neighbors, Jimmy Marshall and Susan Jackson. The family would like to extend thanks to all the staff at Johnston Memorial Hospital, Critical Care Unit and Doctors Emory Robinette, and Ernest Henry. The family received friends and family at the Singleton Funeral Home, Cedar Bluff, Va., from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. on Sat., Nov. 29th. In keeping with Ian's wishes, a private graveside service will be held at a later date. In-lieu of flowers, the family requests memorial contributions to the Lebanon United Methodist Church, 24 Tate Street, Lebanon, VA 24266, or the Second Harvest Food Bank, 1025 Electric Rd., Salem, VA 24153-6437. Singleton Funeral Service is serving the family.
