Alfred T. Johnson

Alfred Trenton "Trent" Johnson, 81, of Ivanhoe died Saturday, Dec. 6, 2008, at Roanoke Memorial Hospital in Roanoke. Funeral service was held Tuesday, Dec. 9, at 2 p.m. at the Reese Funeral Chapel with Jack King officiating. Interment was in the Odd Fellows Cemetery. He was born March 11, 1927, in Wythe County, son of the late Franklin M. and Eliza Early Johnson. He was a U.S. Navy veteran of World War II and was retired from Pulaski Furniture Company. He was preceded in death by his wife, Minnie King Johnson; two sons, Victor Lane Johnson and Terry Lee Johnson; daughter, Vicki Lynn Arnold; son-in-law, J.R. Tate; grandson, Shannon Johnson; two brothers, Tom Johnson and Bob Johnson; and a sister, Alma Sowers. Survivors include a daughter, Kay Tate of Max Meadows; son and daughter-in-law, Reid and Becky Johnson of Roanoke; seven grandchildren, John and Debbie Tate, Samantha and Mickey Peak, Chris and Heather Samuels, Alta and Brad Alford, Joshua Arnold, Jarrod and Diane Tate, Victoria Tate and companion Tommy Mulhall; 12 great-grandchildren; one great-great-granddaughter; and several nieces and nephews. Reese Funeral Home in Austinville was in charge of the arrangements.
