Pauline Cregger Owens, 89, died Tuesday, Dec. 9, 2008 at Smyth County Community Hospital in Marion. She was born in Smyth County to the late William Sexton Cregger and Carrie Leonard Cregger and was preceded in death by her husband, George Milburn Owens, three sisters, Pearl Stover, Virginia Payne, Tressa McGhee, two brothers, Rudolph Cregger and Emmett Cregger, grandson, Jamie Owens, great-grandson, Jamison McAdams, and a very special daughter-in-law, Debbie Owens. She was a member of Furnace Hill Lutheran Church and Atonement Lutheran Church and was retired from the Atkins Elementary School with over 20 years of service. Survivors include three daughters, Janice Taylor and husband, Bill, of Marion, Jean Dishner and husband, Bill, of Graham, N.C., Linda Blevins and husband, Clifton, of Marion; four sons, Tom Owens and wife, Judy, of Chambersburg, Pa., Jim Owens and wife, Donna, of Palm Bay, Fla., Jesse Owens and wife, Lisa, of Abingdon, Lester Owens and special friend, Pam, of Marion; 15 grandchildren; 10 great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews. Funeral services were conducted at 2 p.m. Thursday, Dec. 11, at Freedom Tabernacle Baptist Church with the Rev. Mike Sage and the Rev. Brian Chaffee officiating. Interment followed in Rosewood Memorial Gardens. The family received friends Thursday from 12–2 p.m. at Freedom Tabernacle Church. Dear Linda,
I was so sorry to hear about your mother, I will be thinking of you during the this sad time. If there is anything I can do please give me a call. Please tell Janice, that I am thinking of her also. Time goes by so fast, that we tend to forget about friends we don't see everyday, I will try to get in touch during the holidays.
