William Roscoe "Rusty" Russell Jr.

William Roscoe "Rusty" Russell, Jr., 73, died Dec. 24, 2008 at his home in Marion. He was born in Smyth County to the late William Roscoe Russell Sr. and Olsie Sexton Russell and was preceded in death by his brothers, Ralph, Lawrence, Homer, Herbert, Eugene and Roy Russell and a sister, Ann Hancock. He was a talented musician and guitarist, having sung with several quartets including the Esquires. Survivors include one daughter, Rhonda Katherine Russell; three brothers, James Russell, Raymond Russell, Carl Russell; three sisters, Marie Cale, Virgie Sexton, Eunice Spencer; and several nieces and nephews. Funeral services were conducted at 6 p.m. Sunday, Jan. 4, at Bradley's Funeral Home in Marion with Pastor Mike Sage officiating.
