Sarah Katherine Owens

Sarah Katherine Owens, 73, died Friday, Jan. 9, 2009 in Smyth County Community Hospital surrounded by her family. She was born in Smyth County to the late John Wesley and Rebecca Jane Collins and was also preceded in death by three daughters, Shirley Hamm, Theresa Jackson and Barbara Pauley, her first husband, Thomas McGhee Pauley, and her second husband, Roy Albert Owens. She was a loving wife, mother and grandmother and was a strong and outspoken woman. Survivors include one son, Thomas Owens and Darlene, of Chilhowie; one daughter and son-in-law, Sharon Jackson and Ronnie of Marion; one brother and sister-in-law, George Wesley Collins and Janie, of Chilhowie; one sister and brother-in-law, Martha "Renee" Haga and husband, Ambers, of Chilhowie; one son-in-law, David Hamm of Marion; seven grandchildren, Rhonda Campbell and husband, Billy, Kathy Osborne and husband, Joey, Becky Jones and husband, Kevin, Davey Hamm and Jennifer Harrington, Angela Clyburn and Mark Spencer, Kristy Cannon and husband, Dave, Annie Walton and husband, Matt; 10 great-grandchildren, Kelsey, Stephanie, Jessica, Kayla, Madison, Summer, Raygan, Shawn, Coty, Trevan; and several nieces and nephews. At the request of Mrs. Owens all services will be private. Memorial donations can be sent to the American Cancer Society, 1599 Clifton Rd., N.E., Atlanta, GA 30329.
