Worrell Family,

I just read about Dr. Worrell's passing from reading the Marion/Mullins paper and wanted to express my condolences for someone I remember as a kind and wonderful person. I have long been gone from the area but still continue to get the weekly paper so that I can know what is happening with the people I remember. I was extremely surprised by his passing. I knew him first as a patient as I was reaching my last years of high school and heading off to college. Dr Worrell was always interested in what was going on in my personal life as I made the transition from high school to college. I know that he did the same for all of his patients because that was the kind of person he was. He was encouraging and always supportive. Again please accept my heartfelt condolences.

Dear Miles - I am so sorry for your loss. Your brother was my dentist many years ago and you were my friend. I'm sorry we've lost touch, but I think about you fondly and often. Everytime I go to the dentist, I think of your brother. He was kind and funny - not a big fan of dentists, but I remember him with gratitude. I would love to talk with you some time.

Hallett and family,
I was saddened to hear of Pat's passing. I grew up in Marion and was in the first grade with Pat and graduated Marion High School with him. I have never met a more wonderful, kind person than Pat Worrell. All through school he was always a gentleman and never had a harsh word for anyone. The last time I saw him was professionally about 1997 and he was so kind and helpful to me. He looked just like I had always remembered him. It was such a pleasure talking to him after so many years. We just laughed and talked about the past. I just remember his smile and what a great man he was. I wanted to express my sympathy to you and your children and just let you know I was thinking of you in your time of sadness.

What a rare and wonderful spirit! I knew Pat only through attending the Prostate Cancer Support group in MB (with a friend). When Pat was in attendance, he made us all feel hopeful; and his delightful, engaging personality touched us all. I'm happy I was blessed to meet him. May the family and his friends be comforted by memories of Pat.

Worrell Family: Words can't express our sadness in the loss of Dr. Worrell. He was our family dentist for years and just as importantly he was our dear friend for all those years. We admired him greatly in every respect especially being a Christain doctor-he put his patient's first, always! We loved and respected him like a dad. Dear Hallett ,
I'm so sorry to hear about the passing of your beloved Husband , Pat. I been praying for him for a long time and know that he will be greatly missed . I pray now that our Father will help you and your Family and ease the pain , as only God can .
In John 14 Jesus tells us that He has prepared a place for us who believe in Him and that He will come again to take us there Himself , I can't help but smile knowing that Pat has seen Jesus , when He came and took him to Heaven . One day we will have that great honor, too and what a glorious Day it will be , we all shall be together again and best of all ,forever with Jesus.
In Christ , Love Sabine

It took me two days to think of what to say. Nothing seemed special enough to express what I am feeling in written words. So I will say what is on my heart. It really isn't good enough; just better than nothing! Dr. Worrell was my sunshine! He will be remembered as the kindest man. He touched my heart and soul in more ways than one. There is no way to describe the light that shone from his spirit. I thank God for blessing me in getting to know him and his family. You are in my prayers.

Human life is made of brightness, gloom, shadows, and sunshine. Dark clouds are followed by brillant rays of light. God's plan affects each individual soul. May family prayers of sadness and loss be renewed to Joy; in that, Jesus Christ died for our Salvation.

Aviation: Hallett, I recall two years ago, you and I were to meet and I dailed a number thinking you would answer but Dr. Pat answered the phone. Explained the plan you and I had made to find each other; he had heard about me from you Hallett and this prompted an "antique" conversation of old aviators, female that he knew still current and licensed 76 years old; his wonderful and interesting story inspired me. Think, if I had pushed Pat would of flown with me; told him I would be co-pilot and he could be PIC (pilot in command). We laughed.
Heartfelt sympathy is with you.

Dearest Hallett, Laura and Reed: Pat will forever be remembered as a wonderful husband, loving father and a friend to all who came to know and love him. He was an inspiration to us all especially at the end of his life's journey. I never saw Pat that he did not have a big smile on his face. I remember all the years he was so active with the Boy Scouts and all of Marion's Civic actiivities. He was truly a Christian leader not only in his Church but the community as well. He will be missed by so many and I hope that the testimonies of people whose lives he touched will help you in the days ahead. A friend of ours from Lake View, Tommy Hayes, passed away the day before Pat. Tommy told Billy and I many times how Pat had helped him deal with his prostate cancer and I'm sure there were others he helped as well. That's the kind of person he was. Please know that you are all in our thoughts and prayers. God bless each of you.

I personally did not know Dr Worrell, I heard nothing but good things about him. I was behind the scenes working as a phlebotomist that assisted in the process of collections of transfusions that he needed during his time of need. I wish I had the oppitunity to know him. I know he will be greatly missed and now he is at peace. With a very heavy heart I feel that I have missed a great man. May God Help you and Bless you in your time of sorrow

I was trying to think back to my first memories of you all, but I was way to young to actually remember that. I do however remember you all always being a part of my life and that of my family, from Mom and Hallet laughing to Pat and Dad talking about Marion and all that happens in a small town. Reed and Laura you both have always been a constant to me and I have always been grateful for that. I remember Pat and Reed trying to teach me how to boogie board in the Inlet, I stress trying. Hallet, I am so sorry for your loss, my heart aches for the loss of your love. I do have a little comfort in that you and Mom will find great strength from one another and still make each other laugh. Laura and Reed, it is a hard road and the loss of a father is great, but as with Daddy, their memories will get you through and their love will always be with you. I personally will always remember that Pat had little words of wisdom for me and I will always cherish those. I will always remember him dancing and more recently dancing at my wedding, I loved that and was so glad that Steven was able to know him. I love you all so much and I wish you comfort at this time.

Hallet and Worrell Family,
Dr. Worrell was one of the sweetest, kindest, most warm-hearted men I have ever met. He never failed to bring a smile to my face although I'm certain he was not feeling his best each time he "visited."
As nurses, we have the unique opportunity to touch the lives of many patients, but only a very special few of those also touch us. Dr. Worrell was definitely one of those special few.
The world will miss his smile and his gentle spirit. His death is a tragic loss for all those who knew him and for those that have now missed their opportunity to meet him.
Hallet, thank you so much for sharing him with us, even if only briefly. I know that my life is richer for having known such an amazing man.
Love to each of you,

Dear Hallet, Reed and Laura,
Just wanted to send our thoughts of such a wonderful man and community member. I can't remember a time when Pat did not meet everyone he saw with a smile and a pleasant greeting. Even through all of his illness and pain he was such an inspiration on how to enjoy life to the fullest. I just wanted to be sure you knew how much he will be missed by so many. He was certainly a model of how to live, love his fellow man, and enjoy life in so many ways. And, of course you could not carry on a conversation with Pat for just a few minutes before he was expressing his love for and pride in his wife, children and grandchildren. Marion will miss him greatly.

Hallet, I was so sorry to learn of Pat's death. Wayne and I have such fond memories of you both. You are wonderful, gracious people who know how to make the places you live better. Your witness is appreciated. One of my favorite verses is Hebrews 12:1 "For we are surrounded by such a great cloud of witnesses let us run the race that is set before us." This verse has always brought me comfort in knowing that people I love really are not that far away from us. Pat is surely enjoying a great reward now, but having someone like this in your life makes this loss even greater for you and your children. Please know you will remain in our thoughts and prayers. A Great Man--Pat Worrell
By Loraine Gregory Wendler

"What makes a man great,"
I pondered one day.
Then I thought of Pat Worrell,
and my question went away.
Gentle spirit, loving and kind
God's servant.. the best you will find.
Always loving and would listen to every word my poems would bring
As he held them in his heart and his soul would sing.
Aware that the Father was sending encouragement through a lowly serverant like me,
I would be the one to be blessed before I left Pat's presence, you see.
His heart and soul yearned to give
the Father's message out,
and he went about sharing God's love
as he went here, there and about.
I told Pat how God was using him to bless others in such a mighty way,
and now, standing before the Father,
Pat is receiving these etenral treasures--
THIS VERY DAY!

I went to Philmont Scout Ranch with Pat and Bucky Bostick in 1954. I saw Pat for the first time in over 40 years at Bucky's funeral a few years ago and we had a wonderful time catching up. Pat told me about his cancer and the progness. Only a few months ago I realized that Laura and had been together at All Saints Church for years and I never realized that she was Pat's daughter. Pat was a wonderful human friend and he will be missed by all that knew him. May the peace of Christ surround you all.

Pat's words ''God has been so good to me'' and ''Go with God'' spoken in the midst of his illness are lasting and live on. You are a very strong man and you have a heart of gold. You must make sure to hold your Faith very close to your soul because only God can give you peace. I love you and your family and want you to know that John and I are here for you in anyway you need. There will always be a part missing from you, as I always miss my brother, but with love and help from those around you, you will again see the beautiful life that you are blessed with.

Much Love

Dr. Worrell was my dentist for the past 30 some years. He put up a brave fight and always had a positive attitude. He will surely be missed. My thoughts and prayers go out to his family and friends.

There is a home that lies beyond and past its golden door awaits the one who is now away, not lost, just gone before and in that home the Master will prepare a place for you & when He calls, you will meet your loved one there.

Dear Hallett and Family,
Some things never change. I was impressed with his friendly and genuine mannerism when we first met our freshman year at Wofford. All of his achievements never affected the real Pat. God Bless.

Mrs. Worrell, Laura and Reed I am so sorry about your loss. Your husband and father was a good man and he made the world a better place by his presence. He was a fighter to the very end and he faced death with class and dignity. He will be greatly missed. Please know that you are in my thoughts and prayers.

Hallett, Laura, Reed and family:

We send you our deepest sympathy. Pat has touched our lives and the lives of so many people. He was a wonderful, devoted husband, father and friend. We will all miss Pat, and even though he fought such a long, hard battle with his cancer, he will always be remembered for his kind and caring, enthusatic attitude and for sharing his experience and illness with all those that he came in contact with. He touched our hearts in so many ways and we are so grateful for his friendship. I (Tootie) grew up with Pat at Marion High and we go back a long time, but he was always a kind and loving person and always such a gentlemen. He will truly be missed. Now he is with our Lord in heaven and free from his pain and suffering. God bless each of you as you heal.

Knowing a friend all his life gives a deep and warm glow to the heart. A friend who gives you that feeling only knowing them a short time is amazing. Pat you are amazing!
