Joseph P. Etter

Joseph Pierce Etter, 78, of Wytheville died Saturday, Jan. 17, 2009. Funeral service will be held Wednesday, Jan. 21, at 11 a.m. at the Grubb Funeral Home Chapel with the Rev. Gary Houseman officiating. Interment will be in West End Cemetery. He was employed at Oglesby Pontiac-Buick for 10 years, retired from the Radford Army Ammunition Plant after 26 years of service and returned to farming after his retirement. He was preceded in death by his parents, James "Bud" and Luttie Irvin Etter; and three brothers, Charlie Etter, Rhudell Etter and Roger Etter. Survivors include his wife, Helen Eversole Etter of Wytheville; a sister, Rachel Wright of Chester; five brothers and sisters-in-law, Alfred "Rab" and Helen Etter, Elmer and Charlotte Etter, Stanley and Imogene Etter, and Jerry Etter, all of Wytheville, and David Etter of Roanoke; special great-nephew, "Little Man"; and several other nieces and nephews. Memorial donations may be made to the Wythe County Rescue Squad. Grubb Funeral Home in Wytheville is in charge of the arrangements.
