McKinley "Toots" Whited

Mr. McKinley "Toots" Whited, age 82, of Raven, Va., passed away Thurs., Jan. 15, 2009 in a Richlands, Va., hospital following a brief illness. He was born at Jewell Ridge, Va., and was the son of the late Roby and Naomi Hess Whited. He was a lifelong resident of the area and was a retired coal miner. He was a member of the UMWA. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by one sister, Dorothy Whited. Survivors are: his wife, Shirley Joy Hess Whited; two daughters: Debbie Stinson and husband, Steve, of Raven, Va., Cheryl Wenteler and husband, John, of Darlington, S.C.; one sister: Virginia Phipps of Jewell Ridge, Va.; two brothers: Linkous Whited and wife, Bea, of Honaker, Va., Hubert Whited and wife, Ella, of Bucyrus, Ohio; two grandchildren: Nicole Cook and husband, Jason, of Honaker, Va., and Shawn Stinson of Raven, Va.; two step grandchildren: Stephanie Adams and husband, John, of Lebanon, Va., and Jennifer Wenteler of Darlington, S.C.; three step great grandchildren; nephews: Stewart Phipps, Jr., David Phipps, Mike Whited, and Vincen Whited. Funeral services for McKinley "Toots" Whited were conducted Sat., Jan. 17, 2009 at 11:00 a.m. at the Hurst-Scott Funeral Chapel in Richlands, Va., with the Rev. Mike Altizer and Rev. Clarence Brown officiating. Interment followed at Greenhills Memory Gardens at Claypool Hill, Va. Nephews and friends served as pallbearers. Friends called after 6:00 p.m. Fri. evening at the Hurst-Scott Funeral Home in Richlands, Va.
