Virginia Beatrice Vandyke

Virginia Beatrice Vandyke, age 68 of Richlands, Va., passed away Sat., Jan. 24, 2009 in a Bristol, Tenn., hospital. She was born in Tazewell County, Va., and was the daughter of the late Graham and Beatrice Looney Brown. She had made her home in the Richlands area all of her life and had worked for Fleetwood Mobile Home, Dairy Queen, Acme Supermarket, and Wardell Quick Stop. She was of the Baptist Faith. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her son, Christopher Dale Vandyke, and one brother, Harold Brown. Those who survive her are: her husband, James Pete Vandyke of Richlands, Va.; daughters: Sharon Shinall and husband, Chuck, of Richlands, Va., Celena Vandyke of Richlands, Va.; son: James Earl Vandyke, Jr. and wife, Gloria, of Tazewell, Va.; sisters: Nancy Johnson of Cleveland, Ohio, Claudine Roberts of Cleveland, Ohio; two grandsons: Justin and Jonathon Keen. Funeral services for Virginia Beatrice Vandyke were conducted Mon., Jan. 26, 2009 at 8:00 p.m. at the Hurst-Scott Funeral Chapel in Richlands, Va., with the Rev. Barry Absher officiating. Interment followed Tues., Jan. 27, at 11:00 a.m. at the Clinch Valley Memorial Cemetery in Richlands, Va. Friends called after 6:00 p.m. Mon. evening, Jan. 26, at the Hurst-Scott Funeral Home in Richlands, Va.
