June Marie Russell Waller, 72, of Max Meadows died Sunday, Jan. 25, 2009, at her residence. Funeral service will be held Friday, Jan. 30, at 6:30 p.m. at the Reese Funeral Chapel with the Rev. Gary Cope officiating. She was born May 2, 1936, in Ivanhoe, daughter of the late Conley and Agnes Weatherman Russell. She was preceded in death by her husband, Frank Waller; and a sister, Elizabeth Sparks. Survivors include two daughters, Vickie Barker Chandler of McHenry, Ill., and Diane Aldred of Galax; one sister, Janet Akers of Max Meadows; two brothers and sisters-on-law, Jack and Marlene Russell of Rural Hall, N.C., Harry "Buncey" and Edna Russell of Bristol; four grandchildren and spouses, Mindy and Kenny Chaffin, Shelly and Christian Smith, Sarah and Robert Behne and Ashley Aldred; four great-grandchildren, Micah, Kylei, Marlee and Tandom; special friends, Carol Coleman and Kay Anderson; and several nieces and nephews. The family will receive friends Friday from 4 to 6:30 p.m. (service time) at the funeral home. In lieu of flowers, the family suggests memorial donations to be made to Twin County Hospice, P.O. Box 106, Galax, Va. 24333. Reese Funeral Home of Austinville is in charge of arrangements.
