Sallie M. Murray

Sallie Marie Melvin Murray died Friday, Jan. 23, 2009, in Greer, S.C., after an extended illness. Funeral services will be Wednesday, Jan. 28, at 2 p.m. at the A. Vest and Sons Funeral Home in White Gate. She will be laid to rest beside her beloved husband in Mount Comfort Cemetery in Alexandria with committal services on Thursday, Jan. 29, at 1 p.m. She was a homemaker and married to the late Martin Elmer Murray. They raised four children and lived in the Alexandria area for 40 years. They were both active in their church and community. She is survived by her four children, Geraldine Faye Moore of Greer, S.C., Glenda Carolyn Walker of Dale City, Brenda Jean Murray of Benton, Tenn., and Martin Elmer Murray Jr. of Scottsdale, Ariz.; six grandchildren, Andrew Moore, Paul Hunt, Roxann Walker, Daniel Murray, Martin Murray III and Andrew Murray; four great-grandchildren Austin, Chaz, Paulina and Dustin; six wonderful sisters, Sue Harner of Bland, Georgia Eaton of Winston-Salem, N.C., Nell Hale of Manassas, Ethel Jones of Bealeton, Jean Dontghy of Benton, Tenn., and Burnette Updyke of West Virginia. A. Vest & Sons Funeral Home in White Gate is in charge of the arrangements.
