Fayetta Snodgrass Obituary

Snodgrass Fayetta Crabtree Snodgrass, 93, died Thursday, Feb. 5, 2009 at Wexford House nursing home in Kingsport, Tenn. She was an elementary school teacher for over 20 years in Washington County and Saltville. She was born in Pike County, Ky., on July 17, 1915, the only child of the late John H. and Bertha (Francisco) Bowling. She was also preceded in death by her first husband, Sylvester Crabtree, her second husband, Robert Snodgrass, and a grandson, Steve Crabtree. Survivors include two sons, Robert M. (Kay) Crabtree, Fred W. (Peggy) Crabtree, both of Kingsport, Tenn.; three grandchildren, Lisa (Derry) Young of Morristown, Tenn., Tracy (Gary) Lilly of Bristol, Tenn., Eric (Stacy) Crabtree of Woodstock, Ga.; granddaughter-in-law, Melissa Crabtree of Blountville, Tenn.; and eight great-grandchildren. Funeral services will be conducted at 2 p.m. Saturday, Feb. 7, at D.R. Henderson Funeral Home with Pastor Ronnie Blevins officiating. The burial will follow in the Knollkreg Memorial Park in Abingdon. The family will receive friends from 12 until 2 p.m. Saturday prior to the service at the funeral home. Pallbearers will be James Crabtree, Jeffrey Crabtree, Tom Crabtree, Jamie Crabtree, Allen McNew, Mike Jackson, Coy Cannon, and Jim Counts. Honorary pallbearers will be John Crabtree, James Tate, Sam Tate, Bill Farris, Bobby Cuddy, George Moore, and Freddie Arnold. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Holston Home for Children, P.O. Box 188, Greenville, TN 37744-0188 D.R. Henderson Funeral Home in Saltville is in charge of arrangements.

Bob and family, I was saddened to hear of your mothers passing, she was such a wonderful lady, I was lucky enough to have her several times as a substitute teacher in elem. school, I loved to listen to her read stories, it is one of my fondest memories of her along with the sweet smile she always had, so softspoken, kind and patient.
