Eldridge Tony Jackson Jr., 59, of Galax died Sunday, Feb. 8, 2009. Funeral service will be held Wednesday, Feb. 11, at 1 p.m. at the Reese Funeral Chapel with the Rev. Hal Lewis officiating. Interment will be in the Mt. Hope Cemetery. He was born Sept. 15, 1949, in Wythe County, son of the late Eldridge Tony Sr. and Frances McMillian Jackson. He was a U.S. Army veteran of the Vietnam War. He was preceded in death by a son, Michael Eugene Jackson; and a special brother-in-law, Franklin "Duck" Bowers. Survivors include a daughter and son-in-law, Melissa and Roger DeCook of South Bend, Ind.; two sons and daughters-in-law, Anthony and Pamela Jackson of Mt. Airy, N.C., Robert and Crystal Jackson of Barren Springs; six sisters and brothers-in-law, Doris and Herbert Brown of Galax, Kay and John Smith of Mt. Airy, N.C., Christine and David Greer of Hillsville, Debbie and Billy Kinard, Bytha Bowers, Carolyn and Duane Dunford, all of Austinville; seven grandchildren; special niece, Kyla Williams; and several nieces and nephews. The family will receive friends Wednesday, Feb. 11, from noon to 1 p.m. (service time) at the Reese Funeral Chapel. Reese Funeral Home in Austinville is in charge of the arrangements.
