Gaylord G. Conner

Gaylord G. Conner, age 86, of Charleston, W.Va., died Sun., Feb. 1, 2009 at Heartland of Charleston. He was born in Calhoun County to the late Jeff and Blanche Jarvis Conner. Gaylord retired as a Service Engineer with Mining Process Inc. and attended Calvary Baptist Church and Partners Sunday School Class. He was preceded in death by his wife, Norma, in 2006; brother, Melvin, and sisters, Marie and Juanita. Gaylord is survived by his children, Glen (Margaret) of Williamson, Loretta (Irvin) of Waverly, Richard (Velma) of Richlands, Va., and Gary (Rose) of Clayton, N.C.; five grandchildren; ten great-grandchildren; sisters, Joanne Shamblin and Maxine Russell. Funeral services were held at 1 p.m., Wed., Feb. 4, 2009 at Bartlett Burdette Cox Funeral Home in Charleston, W.Va., with the Rev. Mark Newland officiating. Burial followed Sunset Memorial Park, South Charleston, W.Va. A gathering of family and friends was held one hour prior to the service. In lieu of flowers, the family suggest memorials be made in Gaylord's name to Hubbard Hospice House, 1001 Kennawa Drive, Charleston, WV 25311 or to Calvary Baptist Church, 510 Maryland Ave., Charleston, WV 25302.
