Lura A. Talley

Lura A. Talley, age 97 of Cedar Bluff, Va., passed away Wed., Feb. 4, 2009, in a Grundy, Va., health care facility. Born April 8, 1911, in Washington County, Va., she was the daughter of the late Wiley Smith and Ella Curd Greer. She was a member of Mt. Herman Methodist Church. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her first husband, Harold Beavers; her second husband, Thomas R. Talley; one daughter, Connie Lee Beavers McKenna; one son, James E. Beavers; three brothers, James Ballard Greer, Justin Odell Greer and Clifford Eugene Greer; three sisters, Margaret Evelyn Greer, Beulah Marie Greer and Bannie Ruth Ball and two grandchildren. She is survived by three sons, Robert Dean Beavers and wife, Alma, of Ft. Myers, Fla., Jack Bryant Beavers of East Point, Mich., and Harold (Junior) Beavers and wife, Joyce, of Bandy; one daughter, Lula Mae Beavers White and husband, Otis, of Cedar Bluff; three sisters, Teresa Mae Nipper of Grafton, Va., Dorothy Lou Milton of Satsuma, Fla., and Nancy Pearl Greer of Berwind, W.Va.; daughter-in-law, Elizabeth Gay Beavers of Baptist Valley; 16 grandchildren; 21 great-grandchildren; and 8 great-great grandchildren also survive. Funeral services were conducted at 2:00 p.m. Sat., Feb. 7, 2009, at Singleton Funeral Service Chapel at Cedar Bluff, Va., with Rev. Danny Whitt and Rev. Ray Justus officiating. Burial followed in the Greenhills Memory Gardens at Claypool Hill, Va. Family served as pallbearers. The family received friends from 6 to 9 p.m. Fri., Feb. 6, at Singleton Funeral Service at Cedar Bluff, Va.
