Mary F. Couch

Mary Frances Couch died Saturday, Feb. 14, 2009. Funeral service was held Tuesday, Feb. 17, at 11 a.m. at the Chesterfield Chapel of J.T. Morris & Son Funeral Home. Interment was in Sunset Memorial Park. She was employed for 30-plus years at Allied Chemical, Fibers Division. She loved to have breakfast at McDonald's in Chester and Chesterfield Meadows. She loved to listen to music and boogie. She never met a stranger and provided a halfway house for folks coming to the Richmond area from Ivanhoe during the early 1950s that were looking for employment. She was preceded in death by her parents, James J. Monahan and Ruth Monahan Adkins; husband, Ralph B. Couch; two brothers, Coy Monahan and Jimmy Monahan; and two sisters, Kathryn Alley and Doris Stoneman. Survivors include two sons and daughters-in-law, Ed and Brenda Goodson Galax, Thomas "Steve" and Susan Couch of Midlothian; grandchildren, Kirk Goodson and wife, Lea Ann, of King, N.C., Kris Ann Cannaday and husband, Todd, of Galax, Tara Couch Crites and husband, Alan, of Grandy, N.C., Ryan Couch and wife, Nicole, of Midlothian, Virginia Couch and Tiffany Couch, both of Richmond; great-grandchildren, Reid, Ty, Gavin, Leah, Taylor, Kayleigh, Jacob, Aiden, Chloe, Jillian and Brenna; two sisters, Beatrice Underwood of Ivanhoe, Connie Wardlaw and husband, Paul, of Kill Devil Hills, N.C.; aunt, Hazel Combs of Maryland; special and devoted niece, Barbara Rost; and many other devoted nieces, nephews, cousins and friends. Memorial contributions may be made to Kingsland Baptist Church in Richmond or Fairview United Methodist Church in Ivanhoe, both of which she was a member.
