Colene Combs

Colene Blevins Combs, 81, died Tuesday, Feb. 17, 2009 in Johnston Memorial Hospital in Abingdon. She was born in Washington County on Nov. 9, 1927 to the late Victor L. and Sarah Widner Blevins. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Robert Lewis Combs, two brothers, Earl Blevins and Marvin Blevins, and a sister, Mae Blevins. She was a loving mother and grandmother and was a lifetime member of Grosses Creek Baptist Church. Survivors include one son, Bobby Combs and wife, Donna, of Chilhowie; two daughters, Linda Larmer and husband, Bill, of Chilhowie, and Brenda Rice, of Chilhowie; one brother, Gilbert Blevins, of Marion; one sister, Marie Billings and husband, Walter, of Abingdon; her grandchildren, April Lyles, Joy Hall, Kyle Heffinger, Maria Caudill, Sarah Hanrahan, Angela Miller, Jon Combs, Bill Larmer, Amy Larmer, Heather Holmes; eight great-grandchildren; one great-great-grandchild; and several nieces and nephews. Funeral services were conducted at 8 p.m. Thursday, Feb. 19, at Grosses Creek Baptist Church with the Rev. Darrell Lambert officiating. The family received friends Thursday from 5 until 8 p.m. at the church. A graveside service was conducted at 11 a.m. Friday at the Grosses Creek Baptist Church Cemetery.
