Oliver W. "Buddy" Anderson, 67, died Feb. 20, 2009 in Johnston Memorial Hospital in Abingdon. He was a former employee of Hubs and Wheels, Long-Airdox, Kegley Trucking, and was an owner-operator of a store and a farmer. He was preceded in death by his parents, Robert Lee and Margaret Elizabeth Robbins Anderson, a sister, LeeNell Jackson, beloved brothers-in-law, Scott Delp and Wayne Strouth. Survivors include his wife of 48 years, Maxie Strouth Anderson; two sons, Oliver Lee and wife, Barbara Anderson, of Broadford, Robert Dwayne Anderson and Genny Blevins of Rich Valley; sisters and brothers, Darlene Anderson of Colorado, Marlene Molandes of Dallas, Texas, Charles Anderson and wife, Pearline, of Meadowview, Charlotte Parks of Chilhowie, Valerie Bowman and husband, Ronnie, of Rich Valley, Lynetta Ford and husband, Ron, of Chilhowie, Phyllis Armstrong and husband, Charlie, of Chilhowie, Willis Anderson and wife, Bonnie, of Lake Charles, La., Libby Delp of Rich Valley, Jo Rita Kanode and husband, Terry, of Christiansburg, Robert Anderson and wife, Sharon, of Rich Valley, James Anderson and wife, Dixie, of Glen Allen, Brenda Williams and husband, Kim, of Lake Charles, La., Jeanine Eastridge and husband, Dale, of Roanoke, Eunice Dickey and Tom Kegley of Rich Valley; five grandchildren, Jessica, and husband, Jeremy Chapman, Carmen Anderson, Andrew Anderson, Jake Anderson, Austin Blevins; and many nieces and nephews. Funeral services were conducted at 8 p.m. Sunday, Feb. 22, in D.R. Henderson Funeral Home with the Rev. Benny Frye officiating. The family received friends from 6 until 8 p.m. Sunday prior to the service. The graveside committal service was conducted at 2 p.m. Monday in Ridgedale Cemetery. Pallbearers were Robert Thomas, Mike Delp, Petey Hawkins, Ronnie Bowman Jr., Jeremy Chapman, Michael Coulthard, and Joey Tibbs. D.R. Henderson Funeral Home in Saltville was in charge of arrangements.
