Hazel Victoria Privett Catron, 83, of Pierpoint, W.Va., died Saturday, Feb. 21, 2009. Born July 21, 1925 in Grayson County, she was the daughter of the late William and Elizabeth Privett. She was a homemaker and a loving mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother. She was a member of the Pierpoint Freewill Baptist Church. She was also preceded in death by her husband, James E. Catron, and seven sisters and eight brothers. Survivors include a son, Willie C. Catron and his wife, Marcia, of Mullens; a daughter, Charlotte L. Houser and her husband, Jack, of Havre de Grace, Md.; six grandchildren, Jennifer Wiley and husband, Jerry, of Ona, W.Va., Sandra Worthington and husband, Frank, of Havre de Grace, Md., Scott Catron of Mullens, Sheryl Moore and husband, Jim, of Abingdon, Md.; five great-grand children, Collin and Lauren Wiley of Ona, Noah Worthington of Havre de Grace, Md., Isaac Catron of Mullens, and Nicole Moore of Abingdon, Md.; a special niece, Margie Shelton of Pierpoint; and one sister, Ruby Noonkester of Bel Air, Md. She was dearly loved and will be greatly missed by many nieces, nephews, cousins, special friends and neighbors. Funeral services will be conducted at 1 p.m. Wednesday at Blue Ridge Funeral Home, Beckley, with the Rev. Charles "Butch" Acord and the Rev. Warren Gilpin officiating. Burial will follow at Blue Ridge Memorial Gardens, Beckley. There was a gathering of family and friends from 6 to 8 p.m. Tuesday and also a one hour prior to the service on Wednesday. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Pierpoint Freewill Baptist Church, P.O. Box 714, Mullens, W.Va. 25882, or to a charity of your choice.
