Richard Tracy McKinney, 71, of Bland County, the Little Creek community, died Saturday, Feb. 21, 2009. Funeral service was held Tuesday, Feb. 24, at 7:30 p.m. at the Grubb Funeral Home Chapel with the Rev. Wayne Monroe officiating. A graveside service will be held Wednesday, Feb. 25, at 11 a.m. at the Goshen Cemetery. He was preceded in death by his parents, William Lawrence and Lucy King McKinney; a granddaughter, Ginger McKinney; a great-grandson, Dakotah Tawney; two sisters, Elva Widner and Katherine Underwood; and two brothers, Sherwood McKinney and Joe Lee McKinney. Survivors include his wife, Louise Brunk McKinney of the home; a daughter and son-in-law, Vanessa and Terry Edwards of Draper; two sons and daughters-in-law, Richard Jr. and Lee Ann McKinney of Little Creek, Chuckie Wayne and Katie McKinney of Raleigh, N.C.; three sisters, Gail Habina of Bastian, Linda Habina of Fredericksburg and Sandra Linkous of Speedwell; three brothers, Johnny Shipwash of Ivanhoe, Gary McGrady of Rocky Gap and Andre McGrady of Bland; four stepchildren and their spouses, Helen and Robert Hobbelman of Richmond, Mark Hamblin of Dublin, Rita and Dale Croy of Pearisburg; five grandchildren; six great-grandchildren; three stepgrandchildren; and a special grandson, Bobby Croy. Grubb Funeral Home in Wytheville is in charge of the arrangements.
