Homer Lee Carter

Homer Lee Carter, age 79 of Lebanon, Va., formerly of Cedar Bluff, Va., passed away Fri., Feb. 20, 2009 at his home. Born Nov. 7, 1929 in Richlands, Va., he was the son of the late John W. and Virginia Stout Carter. He was a retired oven repairman with Jewell Smokeless. Homer was a member of Trinity Assembly of God Church at Cedar Bluff where he taught Sunday School for 25 years. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by one sister, Mary Ann Carter. He is survived by his wife of 58 years, Azilee Carter; one son, Terry Carter and wife Gerry of Lebanon; one daughter, Sandra Cox of Lebanon; one sister, Marie Smith and husband, Doffies of Richlands; one foster brother, Bill Russ of Oakwood; three grandchildren, Jolie Francis, Trampas Wingo and Angela Campbell; one great granddaughter, Abigail Wingo. Funeral services were conducted at 2:00 p.m. Sun., Feb. 22, 2009 at Singleton Funeral Service Chapel at Cedar Bluff, Va., with Rev. Rick Herald and Rev. Bill Keele officiating. Burial followed in the Greenhills Memory Gardens at Claypool Hill, Va. Friends served as pallbearers.
