Delmar William "Bill" Heath

Delmar William "Bill" Heath, 67, died Saturday, Feb. 28, 2009 in Bristol Regional Medical Center. He was born in Maryland to the late Delmar Lee Heath and Mae Watson Heath and was preceded in death by an infant sister, Marjorie Mae Heath, and a brother-in-law, Robert Thomas. He was retired from the Southwestern State Hospital in Marion with 32 years of service. He was a very loving husband, father and papaw. He was a devoted caregiver to his mother during her illness and will be remembered as a kind, compassionate and giving neighbor to many people throughout Southwest Virginia. He was an avid fisherman, gardener and farmer. Survivors include loving wife of 46½ years, Carol R. Heath; two children, Tony Heath and fiancée, Ladonna Darnell, of Rocks Springs, Wyo., Kim Heath Shelton and husband, Billy, of Chilhowie; two brothers, Ronnie Heath and wife, Nina, of Glade Spring, Jack Heath and wife, Margaret, of Glade Spring; one sister, Clarice Thomas of Chilhowie; grandchildren, Chenoa Shelton and Cheyenne Darnell; and several nieces and nephews. Funeral services will be conducted at 8 p.m. Wednesday, March 4, at Bradley's Funeral Home in Marion with Elder Larry Blevins officiating. The family will receive friends Wednesday from 6 until 8 p.m. at the funeral home. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions can be made in memory of Bill Heath to St. Jude's Children's Hospital, 501 St. Jude Place, Memphis, TN 38105.
