Mary J. Tuggle

Mary Jane Tuggle, 71, of Rural Retreat died Friday, Feb. 27, 2009. Funeral service was held Sunday, March 1, at 7 p.m. at the Lindsey Funeral Chapel with the Rev. Jerry Bell officiating. A graveside memorial service was held Monday, March 2, at 11 a.m. at Rosewood Memorial Gardens. She was born June 16, 1937, in Wythe County, daughter of the late Henry Hess and Lucy Jane Shrader Gordon. She was preceded in death by five sisters, Betty G. Wynn, Josie A. Gordon, Carrie Poe, Mary Gordon and Lizzie Luttrell. Survivors include a daughter, Deborah A. Vaught of the home; a son, William Curtis "Billy" Tuggle of Speedwell; four grandchildren, Amanda Vaught, Anthony Vaught, William Curtis "Little Bill" Tuggle Jr. and Jacye Tuggle; three grandchildren, Katie Goodson, Timothy Goodson and Hunter Vaught; a sister, Helena Sharrar of Harpers Ferry, W.Va.; three brothers, Douglas Gordon, Danny Gordon and Lacy Gordon, all of Rural Retreat; best friend, Pauline Gordon; special friends, Kathy Jones, Johnny Tuggle, Lindsay Howard and Timmy Goodson; and several nieces and nephews. Lindsey Funeral Home in Rural Retreat was in charge of the arrangements.
