Denver Vance, age 46 of Tazewell, Va., died Sat., Feb. 21, 2009 at his home. Born July 2, 1962 at Buchanan County, Va., he was a son of the late Phillip and Mary Boyd Vance. He was a self proclaimed mountain man who enjoyed hunting, fishing, and riding four-wheelers. Mr. Vance was a man who loved motorcycles and fixing cars; with Denver, what you saw is what you got. He was of the Methodist faith. Denver will be greatly missed by his family and all who knew him. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by four brothers, David Vance, Marvin Vance, Robert Vance, and his twin brother, Douglas Vance; one sister, Carmel Vance; one nephew, Mark Vance, who was a police officer with the Bristol Tennessee Police Department. Survivors include his wife, Wilma Vance; two sisters, Victoria Compton and husband, Raymond, of King George, Va., and Mary Lou Coleman and husband, Bennie, of Lynchburg, Va.; four brothers, Melvin Vance and wife, Mary Jane, of Mendota, Va., Daniel Vance of Federal Way, Wash., Phillip Vance, Jr. and wife, Diane, of Rowe, Va., and Ronnie Vance and wife, Esma, of Battleground, Wash.; one sister-in-law, Karen Vance of Harland, Ky.; several nieces and nephews; other loving family members and many friends. Graveside funeral services for Denver Vance were conducted at 1:00 p.m. Fri., Feb. 27, 2009 at Greenhills Memory Gardens Mausoleum #1 at Claypool Hill, Va., with the Rev. Kelvin Seabolt officiating. In honoring the wishes of Mr. Vance and his family, his body will be cremated. There was no visitation prior to the graveside service on Fri., Feb. 27, 2009. Hurst-Scott Funeral Home of Tazewell, Va., served the family of Mr. Vance, and those wishing to express sympathy online may do so at www.hurstscottfuneralhomes.com.

I knew Denver and Doug both in High School. I am sorry to hear of his passing and the preceding death of this brothers as well.
