Luva Jane Melton

Luva Jane Dalton Melton, 67, of Max Meadows died Thursday, March 5, 2009, at her residence. Funeral service will be held Monday, March 9, at 1 p.m. at the Reese Funeral Chapel with the Rev. Earl Hank officiating. Interment will be in West End Cemetery. She was born May 25, 1941, in Wythe County, daughter of the late Hobart and Minnie Simpson Dalton. She was preceded in death by her husband, Clifford Lee Melton; three grandchildren, Mark Anthony Wilhite, Samantha Dawn Wilhite and Hunter Ray Melton; a brother, Edd Dalton; and a sister, Hazel Dalton. Survivors include three daughters, Doris Wilhite of Max Meadows, Patricia Peters of Max Meadows and Marie Melton of Wytheville; three sons and daughters-in-law, David and Tracy Wilhite of Max Meadows, Eddie and Melony Wilhite of Austinville, Allen and Audrey Melton of Max Meadows; two brothers and sisters-in-law, James D. Darlene Dalton of Austinville, Guy and Janice Dalton of Austinville; two sisters, Louise Walters of Wytheville and Wanda Sparks of Elkton, Md.; a sister-in-law, Elsie Dalton of Elkton, Md.; 18 grandchildren; and seven great-grandchildren. The family will receive friends Sunday, March 8, from 6 to 8 p.m. at the Reese Funeral Home. Reese Funeral Home in Austinville is in charge of the arrangements.
