Richard S. Riggle

Richard Sanders "Dick" Riggle, 79, of Wytheville died Tuesday, March 3, 2009. Funeral service will be held Saturday, March 6, at 2 p.m. at Holy Trinity Lutheran Church with Pastor Steve Ridenhour officiating. Interment will be in Rosewood Memorial Gardens at Rural Retreat with the Wytheville Masonic Lodge 82 AF & AM conducting graveside military rites. He was a U.S. Marine Corps veteran of the Korean War. He was a member of Holy Trinity Lutheran Church, the Wytheville Lions Club, Wytheville Masonic Lodge 82 AF & AM, New River Shrine Club and Kazim Shrine of Roanoke. He served nine years on the Wythe County Electoral Board and was a retired manufacturing sales representative. He was preceded in death by his parents, Floyd Sanders and Irene Bennett Riggle; two brothers, William R. Riggle and Robert Gerald Riggle; and a sister, Alese Riggle Weddle. Survivors include his wife, Martha Lindsey Riggle of Wytheville; two daughters and sons-in-law, Phyllis and Mike Wade of Manassas, Melinda and Chris Hess of Charlotte, N.C.; two brothers and sisters-in-law, Roger and Libby Riggle of Mechanicsville, Nelson and Joan Riggle of Sandston; two sisters-in-law, Lorayne Umberger Riggle of Hixson, Texas, and Elizabeth Yenner Riggle of Lake City, Fla.; four grandchildren, John Michael Hess, Chloe Elizabeth Hess, Amy Wade Bradfield and spouse, Josh, and Clinton Elliott Wade; and numerous nieces and nephews. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the Agape Food Pantry, 405 West Main Street, Wytheville, VA 24382; or the American Cancer Society, c/o Jean Lester, P.O.
