Harlis Eugene "Harvey" Cochran

Harlis Eugene "Harvey" Cochran, age 75 of Raven, Va., died Fri., June 5, 2009 at Clinch Valley Medical Center at Richlands, Va. Born April 28, 1934 in Richlands, Va., he was a son of the late John V. and Ruth Elizabeth Hill Cochran. He was of the Holiness faith and was a member of the Independent Bible Church of God. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Lillie Belle Cochran; one son, Jerry Thomas Cochran; one daughter, Georgia Cole; three grandsons, Gary Lee Hill, Jr., Cory Eugene Sparks, and Payton Dupree; four brothers, Noah Cochran, Arthur Cochran, Virgil Cochran, and Roger Cochran; two infant sisters. Survivors include five daughters, Ellen "Annie" Hill and husband, Gary, and Martha Moore, all of Doran, Va., Patsy Short of Jolo, W.Va., Pricilla Cochran of Richlands, Va., and Phyllis Lowry and husband, Jesus, of Charlestown, Ind.; four sons, Robert Cochran, Billy Cochran and wife, Gail, Fred Cochran, and Travis Cochran and wife, Tammy, all of Richlands, Va.; one sister, Betty J. Chapman and husband, Francis D. Chapman, of Charlestown, Ind.; two brothers, Rev. Arnold Cochran and wife, Eva, of Richlands, Va., and Harold Cochran and wife, Mary, of Charlestown, Ind.; 18 grandchildren; four great-grandchildren; and a host of nieces, nephews, other family members and friends. Funeral services for Harlis Eugene "Harvey" Cochran were conducted at 2:00 p.m. Tues., June 9, 2009 at Hurst-Scott Funeral Home in Richlands, Va., with the Rev. Jerry Welch officiating. Burial followed at the Cordle Family Cemetery at Red Ash, Va. Pallbearers were Tom Cordle, Jerry Carver, James Cordle, James Carver, Sam Jewell, Jody Knuckles, Randal McGlothlin and George Shelton. Honorary pallbearers were Gary W. Hill, Christopher Cochran, Joey Cochran, Brandon Smith, David Cochran, Mike Short, and Jeremy Farmer. The family received friends at the funeral home from 6 – 9 p.m. Sun., June 7, 2009 and Mon., June 8, 2009.
