Ruth Irene Powers

Ruth Irene Powers, 74, died on Sunday, June 21, 2009 in Smyth County Community Hospital. She was born on June 24, 1934 to the late Ira and Virgie Powers Lamie. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by husband, Earl Gaither Powers. She was a member of the Cedars Baptist Church and was a loving homemaker. Survivors include one daughter, Faye Romo and husband, Kevin, of Sacramento, Calif.; six stepsons, Rick Powers, Jamie Powers, Ed Powers, and Chad Powers, all of Chilhowie, Mark Powers and David Powers, both of Marion; a stepdaughter, Cindy Heath and husband, Jim, of Glade Spring; and eight grandchildren. Funeral services will be conducted at 8 p.m. on Thursday, June 25, at Bradley's Funeral Home Chapel in Marion with the Rev. Joe Powers and the Rev. Mike Sage officiating.
