W.M. Howard Suit

W.M. Howard Suit, 94, died Sunday, June 21, 2009 at Francis Marion Manor. He was born in Smyth County to the late Ed and Ollie Suit and was preceded in death by his wife, Edith Zell Suit, four sisters and four brothers. He was the oldest member of the Lowman Valley Church and was a WWII veteran of the U.S. Army. He was retired from Brunswick Corporation. Survivors include two daughters and sons-in-law, Janie and Bill Finley of Marion, Joyce and Roy Morris of Marion; two sisters and two brothers-in-law, Virgie Reynolds of North Carolina, Dealy and Ronald Leonard of Marion, Jim Tibbs of Marion; one brother and sister-in-law, Robert and Hilda Suit of Salem; grandchildren, Larry Finley, Angela Morris, Joe Morris and wife, Lisa, and Robert Morris; great-grandchildren, Heather, Hannah, Ethan, and Evan; one step-grandson; two step-great-grandchildren; six step-great-great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews. Funeral services will be conducted at 2 p.m. Wednesday, June 24, at Lowman Valley Church with Pastor Steve Hutton and Pastor Joe Powers officiating. Interment will follow in the church cemetery with full military honors rendered by the Francis Marion V.F.W. Post 4667. The family will receive friends Wednesday from 1 to 2 p.m. at the church.
