Mary Margaret Frances Elswick

Mary Margaret Frances Lowe Elswick, age 83 of Raven, Va., passed away Mon., June 15, 2009, at her home. Born Jan. 24, 1926 in Tazewell County, Va., she was the daughter of the late John C. and Ollie Cordle Lowe of Raven, Va. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Kelly (Jake) Elswick, three brothers and four sisters. She is survived by five daughters, Betty Reedy and husband, Kermit, of Pounding Mill, Jean Tuggle and husband, Jack, of Swords Creek, Alice Cordle and husband, Ronnie, of Doran, Cheryl Noel and husband, Herbie, of Cedar Bluff and Kay Monk and husband, Steve, of Tazewell; three sons, Steve Elswick and wife, Debbie, of Newport News, Bobby Elswick and wife, Alice, of Raven and David Elswick and wife, Melissa, of Raven; one special sister, Laura Whitt of Swords Creek; one special brother, Bill Lowe of Raven; 13 grandchildren, Angela Church and husband, Joe, of Jacksonville, N.C., Donna Wheeler and husband, Jack, of Pounding Mill, Sheila Whited and husband, Larry, of Swords Creek, Diana Perkins and husband, Phillip, of Randleman, N.C., Rhonda Rose and husband, Mike, of Simpsonville, N.C., Christine Fuller and husband, Garry, of Cedar Bluff, Ronnie Cordle and wife, Adrienne, of Richlands, Amy Adkins and husband, Bobby, of Cedar Bluff, Kelly Elswick and wife, Kandis, of Newport News, Stephanie Elswick of Newport News, Amanda Elswick of Raven, Cody Elswick of Raven and Elija Elswick of Raven; 19 great-grandchildren; one great-great grandson; several special nieces and nephews; and a host of friends and neighbors also survive. Funeral services were conducted at 11:00 a.m. Thurs., June 18, 2009 at Singleton Funeral Service Chapel at Cedar Bluff, Va., with Rev. Barry Absher and Mrs. Veronica McGlothlin officiating. Burial followed in the Greenhills Memory Gardens at Claypool Hill, Va. Pallbearers were grandsons: Ronnie Cordle, Kelly Elswick, Cody Elswick, Ryan Perkins, Chase Fuller and Kyle Anthony. The family received friends from 6 to 9 p.m. Wed., June 17, at Singleton Funeral Service at Cedar Bluff, Va. The family would like to give thanks to a special friend and caregiver, Nancy Jackson.
