Patricia Ruth Blankenship

Mrs. Patricia Ruth Blankenship, age 70, of Wytheville, Va., passed away Wed., June 24, 2009, in an Abingdon, Va., hospital following a lengthy illness. She was born in Tazewell County and was the daughter of the late Perry and Zeta Morgan Pruett. She had made her home in the Bluefield, Va., area for the past 15 years prior to moving to Wytheville three years ago. She was a graduate of the Clinch Valley Clinic Hospital School of Nursing and was a graduate of Richlands High School Class of 1957. She was a member of the First United Methodist Church in Bluefield, Va. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Jack Brittain Blankenship; four sisters, Margaret L. Newman, Pamela Coffelt, Frances Ratliff, and Sarah Pruett; and two brothers, John Michael Pruett and Guy P. Pruett. Survivors are: two sons: Jack B. Blankenship, Jr. and wife, Camille, of Port St. Lucie, Fla., Michael K. Blankenship and wife, Marcella, of Wytheville, Va.; one sister: Julie Fuchs and husband, Robert, of New London, N.C.; one brother: Bobby Pruett of Crestview, Fla.; sister-in-law: Patty Pruett of Richlands, Va.; brothers-in-law: Oscar Ratliff of Bluefield, Va., and Zane Coffelt of Front Royal, Va.; seven grandchildren: Jay Blankenship, Michael Blankenship, Caroline Blankenship, Avery Blankenship, Elliott Blankenship, Simon Blankenship and Lillian Blankenship also survive. Graveside services for Patricia Ruth Blankenship were conducted Sat., June 27, 2009 at 2:00 p.m. at the Greenhills Memory Gardens Mausoleum with the Rev. Jeffrey M. Black officiating. Interment followed. Friends called from 1:00 p.m. until the funeral hour at the cemetery. There was no visitation at the funeral home.
