Fannie Acord Obituary

Fannie C. Acord, age 84 of North Tazewell, Va., died Fri., June 26, 2009, at Tazewell Community Hospital. Born April 25, 1925 at Tazewell, Va., she was a daughter of the late Jesse and Nannie Elizabeth Sheets Asbury. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, George W. Acord; one son, Michael Lee Acord; one grandson, Billy Acord; two sisters; and nine brothers. Survivors include one son, Wayne Acord and his wife, Ernestine "Pete" Acord, of Burkes Garden, Va.; one granddaughter, Kim Childress and husband, Greg, of Burkes Garden, Va.; three great grandchildren, Makala Childress, Clay Childress, and Olivia Acord Young; one sister, Marie Lamantia of Pennsylvania; numerous nieces and nephews. Graveside services were conducted at 11:00 Mon., June 29, 2009 at Maplewood Cemetery in Tazewell, Va., with the Rev. Kenneth Gillespie officiating. Peery & St.Clair Funeral Home of Tazewell, Va., served the Acord family.

so sorry i could not get there for her funeral but i had no ride i am going to miss her she was one very special woman to me and she will be greatly missed i loved her a lot

Uncle Wayne, Aunt Pete, Kim, Greg and Kids, we are so sorry we were unable to be there for you all today, and are sorry to hear about Fannie's passing. You know that we are here for you if you need us, please give us a call. We will be praying for you all.

I have missed and will miss looking for her on her porch in the mornings on my way to work.

Wayne and Pete, We are so sorry about Fannie. She meant a lot to Sonny and I. She's like a part of the family to us. Dry Town won't be the same without her. We're so sorry we can't be there for the funeral. We just found out Sunday afternoon at 4:30 pm and won't be able to come. You are in our thoughts and prayers.
