Patricia Ann Rhodes King, 64, of Rural Retreat died Sunday, June 28, 2009, at her home. Funeral services were held at 8 p.m. Tuesday, June 30, at the Lindsey Funeral Chapel with the Rev. Richard Gregory officiating. A private committal service will be held Wednesday at Rosewood Memorial Gardens. Born in Wythe County on Jan. 13, 1945, she was the daughter of the late Charles Walter Rhodes and Lena Martin Hash Collins. She was preceded in death by her husband, Garnett Lee King; her step-mother, Florence Rhodes; and a sister, Rhonda Rhodes-Brown. Survivors include a son and his wife, Eric and Christie King of Wytheville; two brothers, Randy Rhodes of North Carolina and Rick Rhodes of Florida; two half brothers, Jimmy Collins of Wisconsin and Dale Collins of Wytheville; two half sisters, Sharon Sexton of Wytheville and Cathy Collins of Mouth of Wilson; aunts and uncles, Vance and Peggy Hash of Rural Retreat, Clara and Norman Jacoby of Timonium, Md., and Betty and Bob Monroe of Atkin, Minn.; several nieces, nephews and cousins, including special niece Theresa Dix; and best friends, Juanita Furr, Debbie Akers and Mary Rhodes. The family suggests that those who prefer may make memorials to the Rural Retreat Volunteer Emergency Services. Lindsey Funeral Home in Rural Retreat is in charge of the arrangements.
