Ms. Sadie Irene Terry Cordle, age 89, of Tazewell, Va., passed away Wed., July 8, 2009 in a Tazewell, Va., nursing home following a lengthy illness. She was born in Russell County and was the daughter of the late William Elliott and Nancy Emiline Holmes Terry. She was a lifelong resident of the area and worked in the kitchen at the Elk Garden School House. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, William T. Cordle, four sisters, and two brothers. She was the last surviving member of her immediate family. Survivors are: her daughter: Darla Baldwin and husband, Charles T., of Bandy, Va.; one grandson: Kevin T. Baldwin and wife, Adrianne, of Evans, Ga.; two great grandchildren: Alex and Ashley Baldwin; and several nieces and nephews also survive. Graveside services for Sadie Cordle were conducted Sat., July 11, 2009 at 11:00 a.m. at the Hankins Cemetery in Richlands, Va., with the Rev. Sam Altizer and Rev. Marvin Nipper officiating. Interment followed. Friends called after 6:00 p.m. Fri. evening at the Hurst-Scott Funeral Home in Richlands, Va. Those attending the graveside service met at the funeral home at 10:30 a.m. Sat. Hurst-Scott Funeral Home in Richlands was in charge of arrangements and those wishing to express sympathy online may do so at www.hurstscottfuneralhomes.com.
