Riley Frye Obituary

Riley Frye Jr., 77, died Sunday, July 12, 2009. He was at his home with his family and friends, who loved him very, very much, surrounding him. He was the son of the late Riley and Doskey Frye. He was a retiree of the Northwood Middle School, a U.S. Army veteran, and a member of McCready United Methodist Church. He was preceded in death by two brothers, Earl and Marvin Frye, and a sister, Gladys F. Henderson. Survivors include his wife of 50 years, Betty Frye; two sons, Barry Frye and wife, Kim, Johnnie Frye and wife, Karen, all of Saltville; four sisters, Liddie (Toots) Taylor and Wanda Frye, both of Saltville, Stelma Gobble of Roanoke, and Peggy Thomas of Glade Spring; four grandchildren, Cole, Logan, and Baily Frye, and Jamie Crusenberry; several nieces and nephews; three very special friends from childhood, Charles "Bud" Frye, George "Gus" Frye and Gracie Frye. Funeral services will be conducted at 11 a.m. Wednesday, July 15, at Henderson Funeral Home with the Rev. John Roe and the Rev. Bill Cahill officiating. Burial will follow in the Mount Rose Cemetery. Military rites will be by Saltville V.F.W. Post 2873. The family received friends from 7 until 9 p.m. Tuesday at the funeral home. Pallbearers are Mike Thomas, Danny Thomas, Ron Frye, Don Frye, Larry Frye, R.B. Henderson, Dennis Frye, Allen Frye, Stacey Olinger. Honorary pallbearers are Bud Frye, George Frye, Garland Surber, Sonny Cahill, and Howard Puckett. Memorial donations may be made to McCready United Methodist Church. Online condolences may be made at drhendersonfuneralhome.com. D.R. Henderson Funeral Home in Saltville is in charge of arrangements.
