Alice "Lizzie" Elizabeth Holston, 92, of Ceres died Saturday, July 25, 2009. Funeral service was held Tuesday, July 28, at 11 a.m. at Zion Methodist Church with Pastors Ruth Ann Henley and Jimmy Brittain officiating. Interment was in the church cemetery. She was born Sept. 22, 1916, in Bland County, daughter of the late Warner and Rose Lambert. She worshipped at Zion Methodist Church. She was preceded in death by her husbands, Arby W. Lambert and Paris Holston. Survivors include a daughter, Geneva Baxley of Parkersburg, W.Va.; a brother, Robert Atkins of Ceres; five sisters and brothers-in-law, Macie and Garnett Hubble, Ida Mae Bales, Felicia Hayton, Irene Bruce and Maggie Atkins, all of Ceres; special niece, Brenda Chambers of Powell, Tenn.; five grandchildren; several great-grandchildren; and several other nieces and nephews. Memorial contributions may be made to Zion Methodist Church Cemetery Fund, Ceres, VA 24318. Grubb Funeral Home in Wytheville was in charge of the arrangements.

To Lizzie's family and loved one's. She was always a friendly and caring Lady. I worked with his sisters at the sewing factory. May God comfort and be with every one during these painful times, God will be beside of each and everyone, he never leaves us.

When I had the honor of serving Ceres Charge of the United Methodist Church, it was a joy to be Lizzie's pastor. Her kind words and sweet nature made visits with her a pleasure, and her faithfulness at Zion was inspiring. May God grant us all comfort as we deal with her passing. She will never be forgotten up on Zion hill.
