Robert J. King

Robert Joseph "RJ" King died Thursday, July 23, 2009, at Augusta Health surrounded by family and friends. A celebration of his life was held Sunday, July 26, at 2 p.m. at Charlton and Groome Funeral Home with the Rev. Donald Simmons officiating. Interment was in Tinkling Spring Presbyterian Church Cemetery. He loved whomever his parents, sisters and brother loved. This included family, family of the heart, friends and so many friends of his own making. When making a list of this sort, one always leaves someone out. To those people, we render a heartfelt apology and blame only the weakness of a human heart. He was preceded in death by his beloved grandparents. He was the chosen and much beloved son of Garland Ellis and Susan "Sue" Broderick King of Fishersville. Also in his family are two sisters and a brother whom he loved without judgment, Elizabeth Susan King of Waynesboro, Marychristine Darling King of Mt. Sidney and Garland Ellis King II of Staunton. He also loved his nephew of 11 months, Garland Ellis King III of Staunton but Uncle RJ was afraid of one so small. He leaves an uncle, Larry C. King, and his wife, Dana M. King, of Bland and their children, Tina, Andy, Joe and Christina, all of Bland; uncle Bradley Eugene King of Christiansburg; uncle, Joseph A. Broderick, and his wife, Elisabeth Broderick, and cousins, Claire, Jace and Celeste, all of Orange County, Calif. Those loved by him beside his family include Brian Le and his wife, Xuyen Mai "Sandy," Brandy and Britney Le of Stockton, Calif.; aunt, Marcelle and Donnie Hanauer of Christiansburg; "Grandma" Hedy and "PaPa" Bill Caldwell of Fishersville; and the entire Hagan clan of Christiansburg and Pilot. There are hosts of others, including the guys at Universal Forest and friends and co-workers at Hershey Chocolate. Memorial donations may be made to the Epilepsy Foundation Virginia, P.O.
