Lois Lurel Oliver Crabtree

Funeral service was held Monday, Aug. 3, at 7 p.m. at the Highland Funeral Chapel with the Rev. Kathy Haga officiating. An interment service was held Tuesday, Aug. 4, at 11 a.m. at the Sharon Lutheran Cemetery in Ceres. She received a bachelor of science degree in home economics from Madison College, now James Madison University in Harrisonburg. She taught in Bland and Craig counties for a number of years. She was an advisor to the Future Homemakers of America. She was a member of Sharon Lutheran Church where she was secretary for a number of years. She also was a charter member of the Bland County Retired Teachers Association. She was a member of the Ceres Alumni Association. She was preceded in death by her parents, Minor and Ethel Hypes Oliver; and two brothers, Nelson Oliver and Wayne Oliver. Survivors include her loving husband of 62 years, Andrew Bane Crabtree of the home; a daughter and son-in-law, Lynn Crabtree Pruett and H. Michael Pruett of Ceres; four grandchildren, Michael and Sarah Pruett, Erin and Phillip Buttery; two great-grandchildren, Stephanie and Andy Blankenship; two sisters-in-law, Thelma Oliver and Frances Oliver; several nieces and nephews; and many friends. Memorial donations may be made to the Sharon Lutheran Cemetery Fund, c/o Evelyn Groseclose, 860 W. Bluegrass Trail, Ceres, VA 24315. Highland Bland Chapel in Bland was in charge of the arrangements.
