Carol Houseman

Carol T. Houseman Carol Tarter Houseman, 68, of Roanoke, formerly of Wytheville, died Sunday, Aug. 9, 2009, after a courageous 22-year battle with cancer. Funeral service was held Thursday, Aug. 13, at 10 a.m. at Oakey's East Chapel with Pastors Gary Houseman and Tim Craft officiating. She was a member of Bonsack United Methodist Church, Botetourt Country Club and Botetourt Ladies Golf Assoc. She had a passion for golf, gardening, camping and any form of water recreation from the mountains to the sea. She enjoyed each and every day to the fullest. Her greatest accomplishment in life was in the lives she touched. She was preceded in death by her parents, George E. Tarter and Dorothy T. Tarter, both of Wytheville; and two brothers, George E. Tarter Jr. of Roanoke and Wayne J. Tarter of Wytheville. Survivors include her husband of 49 years, Dillard "Dee" Houseman of Roanoke; two sons, Guy D. Houseman of Wytheville and Curtis J. Houseman of Roanoke; grandchildren, Charles "Jeremy" Houseman, Jessica T. Houseman, Corey T. Houseman and Kyle J. Houseman; a sister and brother-in-law, Susan T. and Ernie Blair of Wytheville; a brother, Michael L. Tarter of Wytheville; in-laws, Shug and Lorraine Houseman, Jerdie and Randolph Akers, all of Wytheville, Mavis and Bobby Jones of Pulaski and Della B. Tarter of Roanoke; several nieces, nephews, great-nieces and great-nephews; her spoiled cat, Baxter; and many special close friends.
