Ruby Barron Obituary

Ruby Hutton Barron Ruby Hutton Barron entered the Church Triumphant on August 10,2009, three weeks before her 95th birthday. She was born in Abingdon, Virginia, the daughter of Francis Beattie Hutton and Ruby Clark Hutton. Her sister and four brothers pre-deceased her. In 1938, two years after graduating from Agnes Scott College, she married Narciso Gonzales Barron of Columbia, South Carolina. Their life together spanned his chaplaincy in the U. S. Army in World War II and pastorates in St. Matthews and Clio, South Carolina, Gainesville, Atlanta, and Americus, Georgia; and Eufaula, Alabama, where they chose to retire. A lifelong Presbyterian, she was an Elder, Clerk of Session, and Honorary Life Member of Presbyterian Women. Among her chief loves were family, friends, the Presbyterian Church, Agnes Scott College, her native Virginia and every other place she ever lived, and her piano. In Eufaula, she was a member of the Christ Child Circle, the Pierian Club, and the Lewis Chapter of the Daughters of the American Revolution. Survivors include her sister-in-law: Margaret Barron; her children: Francis Hutton Barron (Sibylee); William Rowan Barron (Eleanor); Lucie Barron Eggleston (Robert); and Sarah Barron LaBadie; Grandchildren: Andrew Clark Barron (Karen O'Mansky); William Janssen Barron (Shea); James Hutton Barron (Jane); Laura Barron Ryan (Stephen); Richard Hutton Barron (Maureen); Margaret Barron Christian (John); Walter James Barron (Katy); and James Lloyd LaBadie; 13 great-grandchildren: Alden, Avery, Sophie, Libby, Henry, Lane, Rae, Billy,and Ruby Barron; Ezra O'Mansky; Jim Ryan; and Gill and Kate Christian. The Committal will be at 10 A.M., CDT, Friday, August 14, 2009, at Fairview Cemetery Addition in Eufaula, Alabama. Memorial services will follow at 11 A.M. at the First Presbyterian Church of Eufaula. The family will greet friends at the church after the service. Chapman Funeral Home of Eufaula will be in charge of arrangements. Memorials may be sent to the First Presbyterian Church, 201 N. Randolph Ave., Eufaula, AL 36027; Agnes Scott College, Office of Development, 141 E. College, Decatur, GA 30030; the N. G. Barron Scholarship or the Ruby H. Barron Scholarship at Columbia Theological Seminary, P. O. Box 520, Decatur, GA 30031.
