ORA MAE SALMONS COMPTON FLOYD-Ora Mae Salmons Compton, 98, passed away Thursday, August 13, 2009 at her home surrounded by her loving family. She was preceded in death by her husband, George W. Compton, son, Edward Compton, grandson, Stevie Compton, four sisters, and one brother. She is survived by: three sons and daughter-in-laws, Lawrence and Guiwana Compton, William and Ruth Compton, Eliga and Lorene Compton, all of Bassett; four daughters and sons-in-law, Cuma (Sis) and Hutson Inman, of Danville, Ethel and Billy Harmon, Ila and David Martin, Shirley Compton, all of Floyd; brother, Carlis Salmons, of Roanoke; sister-in-law, Dorothy Salmons, of Roanoke; thirteen grandchildren; twenty-four great-grandchildren; six great-great grandchildren; three step grandchildren; six step great-grandchildren; eight step great-great-grandchildren. Funeral service was held at 2 p.m. on Sunday, August 16, 2009 at Gardner Funeral Home with Rev. Glen Sage officiating. Interment followed at Lee Cemetery, Tuggles Gap. The family received friends from 6 until 8 p.m. on Saturday at Gardner Funeral Home. Arrangements by Gardner Funeral Home, Floyd.
