William A. Cabbage

William A. Cabbage William Austin Cabbage, 75, of Radford died Thursday, Aug. 27, 2009. Funeral service was held Monday, Aug. 31, at 2 p.m. at the Mullins Funeral Home in Radford with Dr. James E. Baucom and the Rev. Arlis "J.R." Shelor officiating. Interment was in Roselawn Memorial Gardens in Christiansburg with VFW Post 776 conducting graveside military rites. He was born Jan. 21, 1934, in Union County, Tenn., son of the late Fred Austin and Thelma Beeler Cabbage. He was a U.S. Army veteran having served during the Korean Conflict and was a member of First Baptist Church in Radford. He was a chemical engineer at the Radford Arsenal where he retired after 37 years of service. He is survived by his wife of 46 years, Julia "Judy" Kidd Cabbage of Radford; two sons and a daughter-in-law, Michael C. and Sondra Cabbage of Baltimore, Md., and Dr. Brian W. Cabbage of Radford; two grandchildren, Max and Sofia Cabbage of Baltimore, Md.; four sisters and brother-in-law, Anita C. Lee of Tucson, Ariz., Rosemary C. Cabbage of Oak Ridge, Tenn., Carol C. Hill of Staunton, Susan and Rolland Waters of Vail, Ariz.; mother-in-law, Marie C. Leffel of Radford; two sisters-in-law, Betty L. Fox of Alexandria and Betty S. Kidd of Salem; and several nieces and nephews. Memorial donations may be made to Medi Home Health and Hospice, 102 N. Washington Ave., Pulaski, VA 24301; or a charity of choice. Mullins Funeral Home & Crematory in Radford was in charge of the arrangements.
