Randolph Rogers Obituary

Randolph A. Rogers Randolph Allen Rogers, 69, of Wytheville died Sunday, Sept. 13, 2009, at Wythe County Community Hospital in Wytheville. Funeral service will be held Thursday, Sept. 17, at 1 p.m. at Franklin Street United Methodist Church with the Revs. William Weldon and Elizabeth Allen Villinger officiating. Interment will be in Oakwood Cemetery. He was born Sept. 13, 1939, in Wytheville, son of the late Marion Austin and Ora Valentine Rogers. He was a veteran of the U.S. Marines serving in Vietnam and serving his country for 15 years. He was a security guard at Greater South Eastern Hospital in Washington, D.C. He was preceded in death by his wife, Frances Rogers; a sister, Phyllis Black; and two brothers, Marion Rogers and Richard Rogers. Survivors include two sons, Donnie Rogers of Alexandria and Randolph A. Rogers Jr. of Wytheville; a stepson, James Sherrill of Wytheville; three brothers, Roy Rogers of Wytheville, Larry Rogers of Temple Hill, Md., and Clarence Rogers of Christiansburg; five grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; and numerous nieces and nephews. The family will receive friends Wednesday, Sept. 16, from 6 to 8 p.m. at the Barnett Funeral Home. Barnett Funeral Home in Wytheville is in charge of the arrangements.
