Marion R. Long Marion Rex Long, 72, of Sugar Grove died Saturday, Sept. 19, 2009, at his home. Funeral service was held Monday, Sept. 21, at 8 p.m. at Bradley's Funeral Home. A graveside service was held Tuesday, Sept. 22, at 11 a.m. at the Slemp Cemetery in Sugar Grove. He was born Nov. 22, 1929, son of the late Kilby Long and the late Hallie Long Bonham. He was a veteran of the U.S. Air Force and retired from Brunswick Defense Corp. of Marion. He was a member of Sugar Grove Baptist Church. He enjoyed a long and productive life that included farming, fishing and riding his Harley Davidson well into his last year of life. He was preceded in death by a brother, Emory Eugene Long; and a sister, Lola Mae Anderson. Survivors include a faithful and compassionate wife of 53 years, June Comer Long; a sister, Sadie Garrick Anderson and husband, Scott Anderson; a daughter, Shirley Diane Blevins and husband, Jonithan Blevins; two sons, Stephen Rex Long and wife, Rebecca, of Sugar Grove, Allan Long and wife, Lisa, of Cedar Springs; six grandchildren, Laura Hall, Emily Long, Ellen Long, Hannah Long, Samuel Long and Sarah Long; a great-grandson, Christian Hall. Memorial donations may be made to Hospice of Southwest Virginia, 600 West Ridge Road, Wytheville, VA 24382. Expressions of sympathy may be sent to the family at www.bradleysfh.com. Bradley's Funeral Home of Marion was in charge of the arrangements.

Was sorry to hear about your fathers death. It is hard to except but things could have been worse.
