Ruth Anderson Nichols

Ruth Anderson Nichols Mrs. Ruth Anderson Nichols, age 94, of the Mt. View Home for Adults in Lebanon, VA, passed away Fri., Sept. 18, 2009 in a Johnson City, TN, hospital following a lengthy illness. She was born in Buchanan County and was the daughter of the late Wiley P. and Mattie Brewster Anderson. She was a member of the Calvary Baptist Church in Cedar Bluff, VA. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Bernard R. Nichols; two sisters, Otey Raines and Merle Anderson; and five brothers, A.K., O.K., Aubrey, Drexel, and Herbert B. Anderson. Survivors are: special niece and care giver: Freda Johnson and husband, Carlos, of Jewell Ridge, VA; nieces: Susan Anderson of Jewell Ridge, VA, Sharon Altizer and husband, Joe, of Abingdon, VA, Sue Copley and husband, Darrell, of Yorktown, VA, Nellie Shortridge and husband, Bob, of Flushing, MI; nephews: Norman Anderson and wife, Astrid, of Flint, MI, Kenneth Anderson and wife, Geneva, of Grand Blanc, MI, Danny Anderson and wife, Kathy, of Pounding Mill, VA, Dempsey Anderson and wife, Carolyn, of Davidson, MI, Herbert Anderson of Hampton, VA, Kenzel Anderson of Barboursville, VA; two special friends: Pansy Cole and Katherine Parsons. Funeral services for Ruth Nichols were conducted Tues., Sept. 22, 2009 at 2:00 p.m. at the Hurst-Scott Funeral Chapel in Richlands, VA, with the Rev. Tim Samples officiating. Interment followed at the Clinch Valley Memorial Cemetery in Richlands, VA. Pallbearers were: Men of the Calvary Baptist Church. Friends called after 6:00 p.m. Mon. evening at the Hurst-Scott Funeral Home in Richlands, VA. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Calvary Baptist Church, P.O.
