Johnny James Loper Sr.

Johnny Loper Obituary

Johnny James Loper Sr. Johnny James Loper Sr., 70, lost his courageous battle with cancer on September 23rd, 2006. He was a loving husband, father and grandfather, as well as a successful business man. Johnny was born on September 16th, 1936 in Paul's Valley, Oklahoma but moved to Arizona as a child. He learned his work ethics while employed at Food City where he was a night manager and drove a delivery truck. In 1967 his love of racing cars spurred him to launch his first "Loper's Performance" automotive parts store in Phoenix. Over the years he and his two sons, Johnny Jr. and James, as well as countless hard working employees helped the business grow to 4 stores. The automotive industry and racing were two of his passions and with countless sponsorship he helped many other racers follow their dreams. John is survived by his loving wife Margaret, sons and their spouses/partners, Johnny and James, daughter Teresa, stepchildren, J.T., Shannon and Mark, daughter-in-law Sharon Loper, his caring brother Cecil and his wife Delores, as well as many grandchildren and nieces and nephews. While death is uncontrollable and unimaginable as we pass through the cycle of life, living, dying and then rebirth. We come to a peaceful place where we believe we will be one day in that new life as death is a new beginning. May our souls rest and come into that new life where there is no pain or suffering and we are full of love and peace. It is God's plan that we go on faithfully in believing we will be together forever and all eternity. Visitation will be held from 2:00 - 9:00 P.M. Friday, September 29th, at Whitney & Murphy Funeral Home, 4800 East Indian School Rd. Funeral Services will be at 2:30 P.M. Saturday, September 30th, at Scottsdale Bible Church Worship Center, 7601 E. Shea Blvd., Scottsdale. In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations to Hospice of the Valley, 1510 East Flower St., Phoenix, AZ 85014.

Thanks for everything John. Your enthusiasm, your hard work, your good natured attitude, your determination and best of all, your friendship. I couldn't begin to name all the times you stood as a valued resource to me and my family. We'll race on for generations spurred, in part, by your example. Your legacy will be long lasting as we remember you, our friend and your life's work is in very capable hands thanks to your great job of being a teacher and father.

We were sorry to hear this. He was a good friend. We will never forget when He came to Seattle and Trip ran the funny car. We moved back to Az. and took John the program from the Seattle race you would have thought we brought gold he didn't have a copy of that program.

Johnny was a man who was a great asset to the racing world. Without his love and support for the sport alot of us wouldnt have been able to make things happen for our teams and associations. He was admired for his principals and views on life and has the respect of many. Johnny will be missed and will always hold a place in our hearts. May GOD bless his family and give them strength to deal with this difficult time, but may the memories of a wonderful man always put a smile on their face and all of us who looked up to the person he is.
