Dear Doug, Susan, and family,
Both Bob and I were shocked to hear of your dad's passing. I believe just last week I was telling someone about your dad--how he was still going strong at his age, about his military service, and his quiet strength. This is a tough time; on his birthday, Father's Day, Christmas, and other holidays you will surely miss him. We pray you will gain some comfort that his physical pain is gone and he enjoying eternity with our Lord, your mother, and all the saints who have gone before us.

God bless and comfort you!

Delmar,
I know we did not know each other real well, and at first your were not too crazy about Douglas and I getting married, but I feel that after we got to know each other a bit, you must have realized how much I love your son. I'm sorry for being so shy but am happy to have gotten to know your very charitable side and enjoyed a D-backs game with you (Charge It!) I'm sorry I did not get to know your wife, Rosemary, I believe from what Douglas has told me she was a wonderful mother and I thank you both for giving me such a wonderful husband. I thank you for all you did for the U.S. during your military service. I pray you rest in peace,
Love,
Christine Yates

My grandfather, delmar yates was generous and loving man.He fought for our country in the world war 2.He earned many medals when he was in the army. After the army he went to work for honeywell. He lost his wife9my grandmother)about 13 years ago. He was a devoted grandfather.Theres so many memories i have of him. When i was a kid my sister and i stayed almost every weekend at my grandpa and grandma's house because they would spoil us.Iremember hes the one who taught me how to play the card game solitarie.Even though we didnt have a big family he tried to arrange where we all could be together for Thanksgiving and Christmas. For like a year i moved in with him and my mom and there was many times my four year old son and him would sit at the table drawing with a highlighter and pencil. Those two got really close while i was living there. My grandafather helped me out in so many ways and i apperciate all that he has done for me.I feel like hes still here but i know hes not.I do know hes up in heaven with with his wife watching down on me.Well i will see both of them later in life.I love and miss both of you so much. love your granddaughter, april yates
