During my time in Germany Bill & I were best friends. We did everything together guard duty,Kp, drinking at the club, movies, whatever. I've tried for years to contact Bill but never succeeded till now. My wife and I were running thru the various related names and found his obituary Sunday.
Very sorry that it took us so long. Very sorry for the loss of your best friend as well.
With our deepest sympathy

Bill is my best friend Kimberly's Father, so I was blessed to know him for the last 22 years. When we were silly teenage girls, we would have driven anyone else NUTS. But not Bill. He always joked around with us, laughed our antics off, played along with our games, took us for pizza, and even had the bravery to take two 15 year-olds to Disneyland! When I was 17 he allowed me to move into his home and live upstairs with Kim, giving us the Master area. I ate all his cookies, drank all his milk, but he still loved me. The way he has taken care of Kim and Trevor these many years has been a testament to the type of man he was: Caring, generous, loving, patient, kind, selfless, devoted and steadfast. He has been their rock and their fortress for so very long. As others have mentioned, his sense of humor, ever-present smile and constant contagious laughter will ring in my heart forever. He is so very dearly held to us, and missed more than anyone could imagine. Bill, when we see you in Heaven we will sing Seven Spanish Angels to you, and spend eternity making you your favorite oatmeal cookies! We miss you immensely. Rest well, and thank you for who you were here with us, and for watching over us still now. Love, Your Other Daughter, Brandi

My Father and my Son’s Grandfather, our hero…My Dad raised me since I was teenager. He has been by my side everyday, and always held me up. He was the kindest most gentle man, who loved me and my son Trevor. He was truly our best friend! He came over everyday just to be with us and always with a smile that I miss dearly. He took my Son everywhere…skating, movies...they were truly best buddies! If I was sick or down he would come over, and only he knew the words to say to make me feel better. I thank God to have been blessed with the most terrific Father a person could ever dream of. And the most loving caring Grandfather…Dad you are our best friend and will always be. We miss you everyday. Thank you, Dad for everything you did for us and everything you didn’t have to do. Most of all, I thank you for your friendship, that is unconditional love; it’s everlasting. We love you, Your Daughter Kimberly and Grandson Trevor

I was a Phx Police Reserve officer (Sgt) and was a year behind Bill at West High. I worked many hours on patrol with Bill, he was a good, solid officer and I learned a lot from him. Fun to work with and serious when need be. Sorry to read of his passing in the Dept's 10-7 Newsletter. I rode to the station with him in him '71 Boss Mustang many times....when the clutch was functional and it was Butterscotch !! Great car ! Bill Godfrey (Peoria, AZ)

I met Bill through the A.T.U. metal detecting club and spent quite a few weekend days metal detecting with Bill at many sites in the Phoenix area. I will miss Bill and the many metal detecting stories of the great finds that he made over the years. I will always remember him as 'key date Bill', as it seemed that every coin he found was a 'key date'. I will miss Bill, his kindness and his love of the metal detecting hobby.

Billy was a good step dad to me when he came into my life at the age of 12. I have many memories of him flowing through my head these past couple of days. All the road trips, football games, playing catch, all the jokes and laughs we shared. He always walked a straight line and was kind soul. He had a very respectful career/ back ground. A hero. He loved sports, ASU and the Cards were his favorite teams. Billy and I could talk sports for hours! He was a big Arizona type of guy with a GREAT sense of humor, he had a laugh that carried and was quit contagious.I use to enjoy his"how it use to be when I was kid" stories. He was also very smart and gave out good advice.I would like to thank you Billy for being a part of my life, being kind and respectful to my family and children. You truley will be missed. - Ronnie
