I had hoped to some day meet Phyllis Whitenack, America's first Junior Miss, and the only one from West Virginia. I got my wish and more: she called looking for "WV Forevers" and that is how I first meet Phyllis. We became close friends. I will miss her greatly and the many long email conversations we shared throughout the years. I admired many things about her. She had a heart for her family. The west coast was not her favorite local, but being close to her daughters mattered more. Her email handle included her nickname "Tinker" because she liked to tinker with fix-up projects. She was fun, gracious, smart and full of life. I will miss my friend, who at one time I had viewed from a distant place as a celebrity. I have been changed because I knew you and I will never forget you. With Love, Terri Veneri Stephenson, Charlotte, North Carolina
